MP4 files
MP4 files are MPEG-4 Video files commonly used to share movies and video clips on the Internet. The MP4 container format can store video, audio, subtitle, and image data and is developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). The MP4 format compresses its video tracks with MPEG-4 video encoding and audio tracks with AAC compression. Although the MP4 format is not as common as the MP3 format, it has grown in popularity through use by the iTunes Store. MP4 files that only contain audio data use the ".m4a" extension.
